Shelley and Linda guests on Canadian TV show

One of the positive outcomes of Covid is that to appear on a television show it's as easy as logging into your laptop (and turning on your ring light to put you in the best light LOL). The show Canadian Justice reached out to me asking if we could join them to talk about romance scams. That is subject matter I now know a thing or two about after writing my sister's story in our book Her King the Con: How an Online Love Affair Led to Near Disaster. Our host Christine VanGeyn was very supportive and compassionate in her handling of the questions to my sister. This was a difficult time in our lives, yet Linda's recovery and her desire to help others avoid the pitfalls of online dating, astounds me to this day.

History suggests police dogs mission should change

Since the days of slavery, dogs were used to violently chase down escaped men and women who were running for their lives. As Black Americans fought for civil rights, k9 units were used to terrify people protesting or simply walking to school. Today, police dogs have been used during Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests to capture and hold people suspected of committing crimes.

Can Roosters Catch Colds? Arnie Did!

Many years ago while I served as the Creative Director for an animal sanctuary - Center for Animal Protection & Education (CAPE), I wrote a children's book titled Arnie Catches a Cold. This week the book has been released as an audiobook!

Arnie Catches a Cold is based on a true story about a small but mighty rooster named Arnie who lived at the sanctuary. When he became very sick he was whisked away from his coop and all of his barnyard friends to recover inside the caretaker's house. While he is gone the animals mourn his absence. Meanwhile, Arnie is being treated to a wonderland of delicious foods and warm beds. But despite all the creature comforts bestowed upon him, all he wants is to return to his 'kingdom' where his friends live. Children will relate to Arnie feeling sick, but longing for his friends and playing outside. All profits made from the sale of this audiobook will benefit CAPE.
