Shelley's Blog

My sister Linda and I were honored to be guests on Elizabeth Naumovski's show Finance is Personal to talk about the financial risks involved in looking for love online. Her questions were so thoughtful, respectful and compassionate - this ordeal took its toll on my sister and myself, so Liz's approach to the interview was very much appreciated by us. Thank you Liz!

The website Social Catfish, interviewed me, my sister Linda, her daughter Rebecca and sister-in-law Nancy about how we rescued Linda from a romance scam. My sister had been involved in an online relationship that we all strongly suspected was dangerous. We launched an investigation and eventually unmasked the criminal. My sister lost a large sum of money and her emotional health was ransacked. She is the strongest most courageous person I know. Rather than go into hiding, Linda and I wrote our book Her King the Con: How an Online Love Affair Led to Near Disaster. In the book, Linda does not hold back, detailing the intimate techniques the bad guy used to lure her into his trap. I admire my sister's strength, resolve and her desire to help others caught in these nightmare scams. Please check out this video and read our book, available on Amazon!

The Facebook Group Women That Read Book Club has invited sisters Shelley Frost and Linda young to speak to their readers this Saturday, January 9 at 3pm (PST). Shelley and Linda will talk about their journey in writing their book Her King the Con: How an Online Love Affair Led to Near Disaster. Shelley will explain how she was able to launch an investigation once she suspected that her sister Linda's online relationship was cause for alarm. Linda will answer the most common question that she gets: How does a smart, savvy, professional woman succumb to the wiles of a criminal on the other side of the world? These romance scam crimes are the most reported type of consumer fraud crimes received by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Both Shelley and Linda hope their book can help other family members who believe their loved ones are involved in an unsavory online relationship. Linda also aims to give reassurance to those who are recovering from being scammed, telling them that there

is hope, forgiveness and resilience in the after math.
